I went to see Quantum of Solace last night. The theme song - by Jack White and Alicia Keys is kickass, Daniel Craig is the hottest Bond who ever lived, and there was enough shattering glass and parkour chasing to satisfy any palette. I just wish that for the love of God! they would stop shooting this stuff with hand-held cameras. High-speed chases are hard enough to follow as it is. My main criticism is that it was distracting how much Marc Forster was ripping off Paul Greengrass (who directed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum). I think of Greengrass as the King of indecipherable chase & fight scenes, the kind where it is really hard to distinguish between the guy you're rooting for and his mortal enemy, and after awhile you just throw up your hands and say, well, I know my guy's going to win, call me when it's over. Also, there is a scene in QoS which is basically plagiarized from The Bourne Ultimatum (the scene where they're fighting and Bourne starts wielding a book) - it looks like it was filmed in the same apartment, and Bond starts picking up items at hand in a creepily similar way. This little homage really backfires when you are reminded how superior the Bourne scene is.
